When you lose someone you love, you need a rabbi who can hold space for your grief, honor your loved one’s memory, and guide your family through Jewish mourning traditions with compassion and wisdom.
I provide complete funeral and bereavement services:
You don’t have to navigate grief alone. I’ll walk with you through every step.
When words fail, ritual holds us. When grief overwhelms, community sustains us.
My grandmother was Jewish, but our family isn't religious at all. I grew up going to synagogue maybe twice a year, and I didn't know anything about Jewish funeral customs. When Grandma died, I wasn't even sure if we should have a rabbi or just do a secular service.
A friend insisted we contact Rabbi Forman, and I'm so glad we did.
From the first phone call, Rabbi Forman made it clear that he wasn't there to judge our level of observance. He said, 'Your grandmother was Jewish. She deserves a Jewish funeral. Let's honor her memory in a way that feels right for your family.'
He explained Jewish mourning traditions clearly, without making us feel ignorant. He helped us understand what a traditional funeral would look like, and then he asked us what felt right. Did we want all the traditional prayers? Some of them? None of them? He was flexible and respectful.
We ended up doing a service that was mostly traditional, but Rabbi Forman explained everything in English so our non-Jewish family members could follow along. He gave a beautiful eulogy about Grandma, even though he'd never met her—he'd just listened carefully to our stories about her.
What struck me most was that Rabbi Forman treated Grandma's funeral with the same dignity and reverence he would have given to someone who'd been observant their whole life. He didn't make us feel like 'less than' because we weren't religious. He simply honored a Jewish woman and supported her grieving family.
After the funeral, several family members said to me, 'I didn't know Judaism could be like that—so warm and inclusive.' That's Rabbi Forman. He made us feel like we belonged, even though we'd been disconnected from Judaism for years.
Thank you, Rabbi Forman, for helping us honor Grandma and for reminding us that Judaism is big enough to hold all of us, wherever we are on our journey.

Rabbi Forman officiated our wedding and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He was warm, professional, and created a ceremony that felt deeply personal and meaningful. Our families come from very different Jewish backgrounds, and he navigated that beautifully—honoring tradition while making everyone feel included. The ceremony was the highlight of our day, and we have Rabbi Forman to thank for that. If you want a rabbi who truly cares about your story and will create something special just for you, call him immediately!

Rabbi Forman officiated our wedding and it was hands-down the best decision we made in our entire wedding planning process. He's thoughtful, funny, incredibly knowledgeable, and made our ceremony absolutely perfect. Every single guest commented on how meaningful and beautiful it was. We couldn't be happier. If you're on the fence, stop overthinking it—hire him. You won't regret it!

As an interfaith couple (I'm Jewish, my husband is Catholic), we were nervous about planning our daughter's baby naming. We wanted to welcome Sophia into the Jewish community, but we also wanted my husband's family to feel included and comfortable, not like they were attending something completely foreign.
Rabbi Forman was absolutely perfect. From our first meeting, he made it clear that this ceremony was for our whole family, not just the Jewish side. He took time to explain the significance of Hebrew naming and Jewish traditions in ways that were accessible to everyone, including my in-laws who'd never been to a Jewish service before.
The ceremony itself was beautiful—meaningful without being overly religious, traditional without being exclusionary, joyful without being cheesy. Rabbi Forman explained each element as we went, so everyone understood what was happening and why. He incorporated blessings that spoke to universal values like kindness, justice, and love—things that resonated with all our guests regardless of their background.
My favorite moment was when he spoke about the meaning of Sophia's Hebrew name, Shoshana. He connected it to our hopes for her future, to the strong women in my family she's named after, and to the values we want to instill in her. There wasn't a dry eye in the room.
My mother-in-law, who was initially hesitant about the whole thing, came up to me afterward with tears in her eyes and said, 'That was one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced.' That meant the world to me.
Rabbi Forman, thank you for welcoming our daughter into Judaism in a way that welcomed our entire family. We're so grateful.

I struggled with insomnia for fifteen years. I tried everything—melatonin, sleep apps, prescription medications. Nothing created lasting change.
Dr. Forman's CBT-I was different. He explained the science clearly and created a structured treatment plan tailored to me. We worked on sleep restriction, challenging my anxious thoughts about sleep, and relaxation techniques.
What surprised me was that he also addressed my relationship with rest itself. As both a psychologist and rabbi, he helped me understand that some of my insomnia was tied to feeling I didn't 'deserve' rest unless I'd been productive enough. That perspective really shifted something for me.
By session three, I was already sleeping better. By session six, I was consistently sleeping 7-8 hours a night. It's been six months and I'm still sleeping well. After fifteen years of struggling, I finally feel like myself again.

After my assault, I couldn't sleep. The nightmares were constant, and I was terrified to close my eyes. I was exhausted but sleep felt dangerous.
Dr. Forman's trauma-informed approach was exactly what I needed. He validated that my hypervigilance made sense and never pushed me. We addressed my nightmares directly using Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, and within two weeks they decreased dramatically.
We also worked on making my bedroom feel safer and calming my nervous system. Dr. Forman coordinated with my trauma therapist, which was really helpful.
By session six, I was consistently getting 6-7 hours of sleep. The nightmares happen maybe once or twice a month now instead of every night. I'm sleeping again and not afraid to go to bed anymore. That's huge.

"I took Ambien every night for ten years. I hated being dependent on it, but every time I tried to stop on my own, I couldn't sleep at all and had to go right back on it.
My new primary care doctor, Dr. Sarah Chen, referred me to Dr. Forman and said, 'He can help you sleep naturally again and get off the medication safely.' I'm so grateful she did.
Dr. Forman created a careful taper schedule while simultaneously teaching me CBT-I techniques—sleep restriction, stimulus control, challenging my anxious thoughts about sleep, and relaxation techniques. He monitored my progress weekly and adjusted the taper speed based on how I was doing.
The taper took about three months. There were a few difficult nights, but Dr. Forman gave me tools to get through them without panicking or reaching for the pill bottle.
What helped beyond just the behavioral techniques was Dr. Forman's perspective on rest and trust. As both a psychologist and rabbi, he helped me understand that I'd stopped trusting my own body. We worked on rebuilding that trust.
By session eight, I was completely off Ambien and sleeping 7 hours naturally. Two months later, I'm still sleeping well without medication. I wake up actually refreshed, not groggy like on Ambien.
At 67, I'm sleeping better than I have in twenty years. Thank you, Dr. Chen, for the referral, and thank you, Dr. Forman, for giving me back my natural sleep and my independence.
